Our Team

Our Journey!!.Our Team!!

Starting out as a one man band, it soon became apparent that one man was not going to suffice, so we very quickly expanded the team to meet the on going demands of the building industry and of our clients. We’ve had an amazing journey coming to where we are today, and feel very privileged to have been able to employ some wonderful people, not only skilled and qualified builders but also some very capable apprentices, and fabulous human beings. With that in mind, we are confident that we can provide you with a professional, effective and highly skilled team to bring your project to life.

Nick Harper

– Director

Nick has been in the building trade for over 22 years now and he still feels just as passionate about building and construction as he did when he started his apprenticeship. Becoming his own boss and building a team of like minded people felt like a natural step and so “Harper Builders Ltd” was born.

Nick is a Licensed Building Practitioner and a member of New Zealand Certified Builders. Nick is a speedway enthusiast and also loves mountain biking and fishing with his lovely wife and 3 children Jack, Leila and Niko.

Aimee Harper

– Director

Aimee, the woman behind the man. Aimee is a very handy lady, not only does she play an active part in the day to day running of the business, but she is also mum of 3, which is a full time job in itself.

Aimee has a level 3 qualification in Horticulture (her passion) and loves gardening, she is also a very conscious recycler, and repurposes old building materials and furniture and is able to turn her hand to most things. To top it off she will jump on the tools and give the guys a hand on the job sites when required.

David Strawbridge

– Qualified Builder

Dave has been in the building industry for over 30 years now and always has a smile on his face, clearly he loves his work. Dave is a Licensed Building Practitioner and brings with him a great wealth of building knowledge and skills along with a passion for all levels of the building industry.

Outside of work he plays and coaches hockey, spends time in the water paddle boarding and loves spending time with his lovely wife & daughter.

Tarn Morley

– 3rd Year Apprentice

Tarn is full of enthusiasm with a can do attitude and an abundance of energy. He started out at NMIT where he completed a 1 year carpentry course, during this time he came on board with us to do work experience, he then transitioned into a fulltime member of the team and is now nearing the end of his apprenticeship.

Tarn has a variety of out of work activities such as Bow hunting, fishing, in fact anything outdoors, he also has a passion for Gold panning and metal detecting, he loves gardening and enjoys trail riding just to name a few. He is your true kiwi lad, always looking for a new adventure in the wilds of NZ

Peniella Torotoro

– 3rd Year Apprentice

Peni hit the ground running and has fallen into his builder role with ease, and is now nearing the end of his apprenticeship. Peni worked in many industries before finding his way to us, starting out on the Enviro Waste trucks in Auckland, then worked alongside his father as a home detention responder.

Moving away from home led him to Beekeeping in the Waikato before relocating to Nelson. Peni has a love for Rugby and playing instruments and enjoys cooking, but the one thing that stands out is his love for giving back to his community by volunteering as a mentor with troubled youth. To top this off Peni is a family man and treasures his time with his beautiful wife and children.

Jack Zielinski

– 2nd Year Apprentice
Jack is the youngest and newest member of the team and came to us from the Westcoast where he had been working as an apprentice builder. Jack has just rolled into the team as if he had always been here, the perfect fit. MORE TO COME

Marley Harper

– In Training

You may see Marley around site every now and then and if you do, be sure to give him a pat. He has been on the job for about 4 years and is still in training, but he knows to stay out of the way. He’s a friendly fella and is always happy to make new friends so if he comes a running don’t be alarmed….. you will see that his tail is a wagging and his ears are a flapping and all he wants to do is say gidday. We often find him hanging out with the boys. He is a bit of a cheeky beggar but very harmless. You will be his new best friend 🙂
